Special Olympics NC - Golf Coach - Buncombe County

About the role

The Special Olympics is seeking a passionate and dedicated volunteer to serve as a golf coach for local Special Olympics athletes in the Asheville area.

Responsibilities

• Help local athletes learn and improve their golfing skills through game knowledge, enthusiasm, commitment, and a positive attitude.
• Meaningfully enrich the lives of athletes by building physical and social skills and instilling self-confidence.
• Work with Special Olympics staff to coordinate practice locations and times.
• Participate in the Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC) Fall Tournament in the Charlotte region (if interested).

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old to be certified as a coach.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable about golf.

Skills

• Enthusiasm for working with intellectually disabled athletes.
• Positive attitude and ability to build self-confidence in others.

Schedule

Practice sessions occur at the Country Club of Asheville on Thursdays from 5:30p - 7p. Additional opportunities may include participation in the SONC Fall Tournament in the Charlotte region.
