Special Education Teacher | K-6th | Bloomfield, NY

About the role

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12.

Responsibilities

• Provides special instruction and tutorial assistance to special education students.
• Consults with general education staff to implement student programs.
• Participates in planning and implementing student programs.

Requirements

• Licensed to teach in NYS.
• Special Education K-6th certification.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations.
• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred.
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Current CPR if applicable.
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
• Knowledge of special education methodologies and resources.

Pay

$45/hr 26/27 school year- temp to perm

Schedule

Must be available for the 26/27 school year and transition to permanent position.
