About the role

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher commits to team participation in planning and implementing student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality special education services to students in kindergarten through grade 12.
• Collaborate with general education staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Offer special instruction and tutorial assistance to enhance learning outcomes for students with special needs.
• Consult with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom environments.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to stay updated on best practices and new strategies.

Requirements

• Licensed to teach in NYS with a SWD K-6th certification.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations.
• Minimum of one year teaching experience preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred.
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred.
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
• Current CPR if applicable.
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Knowledge of special education methodologies and resources.
• Proficiency in using technology to support student learning.

$45/hr for the 26/27 school year
