Special Ed Substitute Teacher

Devereux is seeking a Substitute Special Education Teacher to provide substitute services within Neshaminy School District's Elementary Autistic Support Program. About the role

• Location: Neshaminy School District
• Setting: Elementary Autistic Support Classroom
• Class Size: Up to 8 students per classroom

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
• Deliver specialized instruction to students with autism and related learning needs.
• Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor and assess student progress toward academic and behavioral goals.
• Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and other support staff to ensure effective service delivery.
• Adapt instruction and classroom activities to meet individual student needs.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and follow district and special education procedures.
• For long-term assignments, develop lesson plans and instructional activities aligned with curriculum requirements, previous lesson plans, and student IEP goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education; Master’s degree in Special Education preferred.
• PA Special Education Teacher full or substitute certification required.
• Previous Special Education Teacher experience preferred; student teaching experience also considered.
• School experience required.
• Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing.
• Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques – upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more.
• Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision.
• Occasional use of computers and office equipment.
• Ability to meet 100% mastery of district-adopted crisis prevention and intervention techniques.

Schedule

• On-Call, 10-Months: Monday–Friday, 8:20 AM–3:50 PM (aligned with the school calendar).
• Opportunities for extended school year program during summer break.

Pay

$160 per day
