Sourcing Specialist

Position Summary

This position leads individual Procurement projects and/or a set of assigned commodities by deploying best practice procurement tools and negotiation skills. The Procurement Specialist does this while optimizing supplier performance and minimizing risk in the supply chain to enable the Parker Precision Fluidics Supply Chain strategy.

This is a highly visible role in the Parker Precision Fluidics Division with regular engagement with stakeholders at all levels in the Division. This position directly reports to the Division Sourcing & Procurement Manager and is based in Hatfield, Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Sources and manages suppliers including bid, performance, capability, and risk evaluations.

• Conducts regular business reviews with key suppliers and drives maximum performance.

• Actively maintains supplier relationships.

• Negotiates, creates, and manages contracts and agreements that support LEAN manufacturing principles, including cost, total landed cost, terms, and performance.

• Devises ways and means to maximize commodity buying efficiency and minimize risk.

• Develops and manages data to support activities.

• Pairs with New Product Development Engineers with sourcing decisions and activities.

• Develops commodity strategy.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree Supply Chain management or relevant discipline.

• Master’s degree preferred.

• Manufacturing experience in Supply Chain or technical role preferred.

• Experience with LEAN manufacturing and relevant concepts/methodologies required.

• Contract development and review experience.

• Proven ability to effectively partner with suppliers to improve overall supply chain performance.

• Inherent ability to identify opportunities to improve supply chain performance and cost while effectively influencing others to implement improvements.

• Project management and problem-solving skills required.

• Six sigma certification preferred.

• Prior experience in sourcing plastic molded, rubber molded, or machined components preferred.

• Ability to interpret blueprints and understand cost drivers.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including proficiency in developing and utilizing pivot tools and macros.

• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external stakeholders.
