Solution Sales Engineer
About the role
As a Toppan Merrill Solution Sales Engineer, you will provide enterprise-level technical sales support for our software and services solutions. Your primary objective is to support the sales organization by presenting and selling Toppan Merrill’s offerings, with a key focus on Quinn by Toppan Merrill—our next-generation platform transforming regulatory and financial disclosures. This role is critical in driving solution and technology discussions during the sales process, opening new opportunities, and strengthening client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical sales support throughout the sales cycle to drive opportunities and revenue.
- Deliver and customize technical sales presentations on Toppan Merrill products and services, and create new presentations for use by sales and the Client Advisory Services (CAS) team.
- Explain product capabilities, limitations, and implementation requirements, balancing revenue opportunities with technical trade-offs and alternatives.
- Actively participate in sales calls involving complex technical requirements or multiple hardware platforms, serving as the lead technical resource.
- Identify and develop innovative solutions to client requirements while managing client expectations.
- Research and communicate the technical capabilities of Toppan Merrill’s products compared to competitors for both internal and external audiences.
- Handle complex client and technical projects, including researching, composing, and delivering responses to RFPs while clarifying requirements with clients.
- Collect business and technical requirements from clients and partner with Product and Engineering teams to integrate them into Toppan Merrill’s offerings.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create materials for the product line.
- Work with Pricing/Finance teams, external vendors, and internal resource managers to provide market-driven recommendations for onboarding and pricing new solutions.
- Train and mentor new or lower-skilled employees.
- Lead internal team projects related to process improvements or technology testing.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3-7 years of experience in a direct client contact and consulting role, preferably in technology services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
- Proactive ability to anticipate client needs and problem-solve solutions.
- Demonstrated project management experience with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to interact professionally with internal and external clients/customers.
- Strong technical aptitude and commitment to continuous learning to stay current on regulations and product enhancements.
- Detailed knowledge of industry best practices (e.g., accounting, financial disclosures, healthcare).
- Working knowledge of commonly used software in the industry.
- Demonstrated leadership skills—leading through direction and influence.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.

Pay
Competitive base pay ranging from $125,000 – $165,000 annually, based on experience and expertise. Additional pay, including commissions and bonuses, may range up to 30% of base pay depending on performance. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievement, business needs, and location.
