About the role

Performs all duties to ship finished product to customers on time. Responsible for shipping various items to vendors/customers for the Technical group. Maintains accurate shipping records by verifying information, counts, weights, and other measures against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Performs packaging duties in accordance with established standards. Steps in as acting authority for Warehouse Supervisor except for payroll or other human resource responsibilities. Maintains accurate inventory counts on all finished products and components in inventory location 0001 warehouse in the main facility. Performs material handling duties including picking material for manufacturing jobs, recording shortages, and delivering material to the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

  • Shipping
    • Interfaces with Customer Service to ensure on-time delivery and method of shipment for production and product development material.
    • Completes and controls the flow of paperwork for all shipping transactions.
    • Prepares material and products for shipment per procedures or direct instructions.
    • Affixes shipping labels or stencils identifying shipping information on boxes or cartons.
    • Assembles multiple cartons on skids per procedures and covers with "good wrap" or binding as required.
    • Prepares all shipping papers with determined weights for skids or packages.
    • Schedules carriers and determines the most economic method of shipment.
    • Advises warehouse personnel on proper packaging methods for skids.
    • Uses packaging equipment such as wrapping, banding, weighing, and container filler material machines/dispensers.
    • Operates NCFI foam packaging equipment.
    • Operates office equipment to produce shipping documents, including the FEDEX Powership system.
  • Cycle Counting
    • Creates a Vantage physical inventory document daily to begin cycle counting.
    • Prints the Vantage inventory document and performs cycle counting on predetermined components and/or finished products.
    • Investigates and resolves large count variances between current on-hand balance and physical counts, reporting discrepancies to supervisor.
    • Uses various transaction codes and understands their functions.
  • Material Handling
    • Receives work order requests from manufacturing supervisors and pulls required component material.
    • Delivers material to the appropriate manufacturing cell and coordinates priority with the manufacturing supervisor.
    • Performs Vantage transactions to issue material toward the job and resolves discrepancies.
    • Operates equipment such as pallet stackers, tow motors, and pallet trucks.
    • Maintains equipment readiness by keeping the pallet stacker charged.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and two to five years’ experience in a shipping department.
  • Knowledge of shipping/receiving equipment such as foam packaging dispensers, stenciling machines, weight scales, banding machines, and other small tools.
  • Experience with creating packing lists, movement transactions, and posting goods issue of materials shipped.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license, forklift, and pallet stacker license.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 70 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
