Course Description

Philosophical issues in ethics, social theory, and theories of human nature insofar as they bear on contemporary conduct of business. Issues include: Does business have moral responsibilities? Can social costs and benefits be calculated? Does modern business life determine human nature or the other way around? Do political ideas and institutions such as democracy have a role within business?

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration and marking of assignments
  • Calculation and submission of grades
  • Holding office hours

Qualifications

Minimum: Ph.D. in philosophy; strong academic record and professional promise; ongoing research and scholarly publications in the field; relevant and recent teaching experience.

Preferred: Preference will be given to applicants who have clearly demonstrated teaching excellence in the subject matter.

Pay

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.48 (includes Vacation Pay)
  • Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term: $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term: $11,228.90

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
