Sessional Lecturer: PHL440H: Clinical Bioethics

About the role

This is an advanced study of topics in bioethics taught in conjunction with clinical bioethicists associated with the health care organization partners of the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics. This course is intended for Bioethics Major and Specialist students.

Responsibilities

• Developing and delivering course content
• Organizing guest lecturers
• Developing, administering and grading assignments
• Maintaining regular communication with students
• Managing the Quercus course page
• Calculating and submitting course grades

Requirements

PhD in Philosophy, Bioethics or related field.

Detailed knowledge of the structure and organization of healthcare, including relevant health law and policy.

Familiarity with the practice of clinical bioethics in healthcare settings and current ethical debates in clinical care policy and practice.

Experience teaching bioethics in a university setting required.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: PhD in Philosophy, Bioethics or related field.

Preferred qualifications: Experience with the application of bioethics theory to practical matters of health care and/or policy strongly preferred. Previous experience teaching bioethics to undergraduate arts and sciences students preferred.
