Sessional Instructional Assistant positions for JRE410H1 F - Markets and Competitive Strategy, a course that introduces basic concepts, frameworks, and methodologies useful to managers in crafting and executing entrepreneurial business strategies in technology-based companies. The course covers:
- External, internal, and dynamic business environments and elements of a superior competitive position
- Designing and delivering customer value through strategic decisions on segmentation, targeting, positioning, and tactical decisions on product introductions, marketing communications, distribution channels, and pricing
- Innovation and industry dynamics, including industry life cycles, disruptive technologies, product renewal, and the relationship between R&D and commercialization
Estimated course enrolment: 145 (30 per practical section).
Schedule
- Sessional dates of appointment: September 1 - December 31, 2026
- Scheduled sections: One position Wednesdays 3-5 p.m. and one position Wednesdays 6-8 p.m.
Pay
$55.25/hour
Responsibilities
- Hold weekly in-person case-study analysis sessions for ~30 students
- Grade assignments, mid-terms, and final assessments
- Invigilate in-person final exam
- Assist with the development of case study material for the course
- Other duties, as assigned
Head SIA will have additional responsibilities for coordinating tutorial sessions and assisting with course administration.
Requirements
- PhD or Masters with a strong background in marketing and strategy
- Engineering background is an asset
- Previous teaching experience is an asset, particularly in this or a similar course
Number and size of positions: 1 position (Head SIA) at 110 hrs, 1 position (SIA) at 90 hrs.
