Course number and title: JAV130H1: Visual Strategies
Course description: An introduction to diverse mediums and topics for exploration with an emphasis on experimentation and conceptual development. In addition to acquiring manual skills used in production of contemporary visual art, students are encouraged to explore their own individual artistic and research processes.

Salary (per half-course, inclusive of vacation):
Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,997.58
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $ 10,699.22
Sessional Lecturer II: $ 10,699.22
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $ 10,953.96
Sessional Lecturer III: $ 10,953.96
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,228.90
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Please also note that this course is equivalent to 0.5FCE.

Minimum qualifications

MA or MFA (or equivalent graduate degree) required with previous teaching experience. Strong exhibition history and currently exhibiting artist. Applicants may be asked to supply references.

Preferred qualifications

Internationally recognized practice.

Description of duties

  • Preparation and delivery of course material
  • Managing digital teaching materials and platform
  • Supervision of teaching assistants
  • Preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations
  • Marking of student work, submission of grades
  • Dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions
  • Student contact hours
