UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies serves as a catalyst for positive change by advancing global access, equity, and social and economic mobility through educational enrichment across the lifespan. As a fully self-supporting division under UC San Diego Academic Affairs, Extended Studies operates year-round (12 months of active instruction) with a budget of $50 million annually. About the role

The Senior Systems Analyst serves as the Division of Extended Studies' (DES) in-house senior technical authority, applying advanced IT professional concepts and a high degree of specialized knowledge across systems analysis, solution development, application configuration, and business technical support to resolve highly complex, often unprecedented challenges across the division's broad technology ecosystem — including the division's public-facing website, CRM platform (Element451), campus integrations, and custom-built applications and solutions.

Working in close collaboration with DES IT and reporting to the Assistant Dean of Finance & Administration, the incumbent leads the remediation of legacy applications, conducting hands-on analysis of current business processes and defining future-state solutions across critical systems and workflows, as well as additional applications identified over time. The incumbent maintains and optimizes configurations across all vended solutions to ensure DES business needs are consistently met, independently recommends and selects appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for complex systems challenges, and designs scalable, forward-looking integration frameworks that connect disparate applications into the larger organizational data warehouse systems of the campus.

The role also requires exploration and implementation of creative technical solutions, as well as independently building and implementing integrations across the division's many applications and systems. The incumbent creates and leads internal working groups and committees composed of key stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather comprehensive requirements matrices, defines business needs, and develops solutions frameworks for new and emerging applications. Frequently required to analyze unique problems without established precedent or structure, the incumbent operates with a high degree of autonomy, applies expert-level judgment to complex technical challenges of broad scope, and serves as the division's primary authority on systems analysis, application integration, configuration management, and technical architecture across all DES platforms and solutions.
