About the role
This position helps develop and deploy world-class data analytics for the system antimicrobial stewardship program at UPMC, one of the nation’s leading health systems. The Senior level Systems Analyst is a senior member of a system shared service team comprised of healthcare professionals contributing to UPMC’s strategic initiatives, clinical excellence, and operational targets through data-driven insights.
Responsibilities
- Lead data analytics and visualization projects for antimicrobial stewardship and develop departmental dashboards.
- Support analysis, monitoring, investigation, and planning activities.
- Produce professional deliverables for an executive audience.
- Lead investigative activities and coordinate with technical resources across departments.
Requirements
- No scheduled evening, weekend, overnight, or holiday coverage is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related work experience OR 2 years of experience and preferred certification or Master’s degree
- Experience: Data/Business Analytics, Data Science, Software Development, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Information Technology/Information Security/ Auditing, Informatics Pharmacy
- Degree Preferences: Data Science, Business Analytics, Health Information Technology, Information Technology/Systems, Information Security, Computer Forensics, Computer Science, Pharmacy
- Experience Preferences: Data Analytics, Data Visualization, Data Warehousing, Programming/Software engineering, Statistics, Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, Auditing, Information Technology, Health Care, Database Management, Pharmacy, ETL (Extract, Transfer and Load), SQL.
- Certification Preferences: Epic Willow, Epic Cogito, PGY-2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency
Skills
- Serve as primary data support for management level leadership of the system antimicrobial stewardship team
- Analyze and interpret data using statistical modeling software (e.g. R, Python, SAS) and apply statistical methods, analysis, and models (i.e. hypothesis testing, logistic and linear regression, correlation, parametric and non-parametric methods) to detect improvement opportunities.
- Report/dashboard creation (Tableau, Qlik)
- Expert in data validation, analysis, and visualization techniques.
- Proficient in programming languages (ACL, Python, R, SAS, SQL).
- Understand software development techniques.
- Distribute technical knowledge and identify training needs.
- Stay current with new technologies and IT systems.
- Extract and combine data from various sources.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and collaborate with peers.
