Objectives & Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for security guard and administrative positions — manage job postings, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions.

  • Coordinate with operations on real-time staffing needs, including filling urgent shift call-outs on evenings and weekends.

  • Own onboarding for all new hires — coordinate logistics, documentation, and first-day experience.

  • Manage scheduling and timekeeping for hourly employees, including time computation and weekly payroll processing in Gusto.

  • Serve as HR Business Partner to operations supervisors and office staff — handle employee relations, performance coaching, and development conversations.

  • Support supervisors with people management by providing guidance on coaching conversations, performance documentation, and corrective action.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, client success, and office management on people-related needs and projects.

  • Own and implement culture, engagement, and recognition initiatives.

  • Administer HR programs including benefits enrollment, 401(k), PTO tracking, and company holiday compliance.

  • Track and report key recruiting metrics to leadership to continuously improve hiring outcomes.

  • Contribute to leadership team discussions on culture, HR strategy, and workforce planning.

Competencies

  • Ownership mentality — treats the business like it's your own.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.

  • High adaptability and comfort with ambiguity in a startup environment.

  • Collaborative partner who builds strong relationships across functions.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive employee matters.

  • Ability to operate both on the ground and with an eye toward the future.

Education & Experience

  • 3-5+ years of HR experience, with progression from entry-level to more senior responsibilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent).

  • Payroll processing experience preferred; Gusto experience a plus.

  • Experience recruiting for high-volume hourly/frontline roles.

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth, scrappy environment.

  • Strong knowledge of Colorado employment law and compliance.

  • Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per year (exempt, salaried)

  • Incentive Compensation: $10,000 - $15,000 per year

  • Retail: 401(k) plan

  • PTO: Unlimited paid time off (with approval process)

  • Holidays: 12 paid company-observed holidays per year

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based with extended periods of computer and phone work.

  • Able to work from the Scout Security office at 1325 S Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80222.

  • Occasional evening and weekend availability required for urgent staffing situations.
