Senior Human Resources Generalist
About the role
The Senior HR Generalist at Rhoads Industries provides comprehensive human resources support and services to the organization. This role involves handling various HR functions, primarily in support of the touch-labor workforce of the company. The Senior HR Generalist works closely with employees and the operations department to ensure effective HR practices and support the overall HR strategy of the company to production goals.
Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between the touch labor employees and operations management team.
- Respond to day-to-day employee inquiries regarding benefits, compensation, attendance, and other general concerns.
- Aid in the disciplinary process to ensure timely, consistent, and appropriate intervention in line with the company work rules and the union collective bargaining agreements.
- Conduct employee relations investigations, analyze organizational health issues, and work in partnership with the HR director to develop and execute plans to address problem areas.
- Provide counseling and direction to employees, facilitate communication, and help to resolve conflicts that impact employee engagement.
- Provide guidance on employment related issues (such as ADA, FMLA, FLSA, harassment, discrimination, corrective action and progressive discipline) to operations leadership.
- Prepare reports and identify trends in employee related issues, turnover and performance trends and provide solutions to operations leadership.
- Aid in the performance appraisal processes, provide guidance to managers/supervisors that oversee union and non-union workforces, and help develop performance improvement plans to drive operations objectives.
- Aid in the creation and implementation of effective training and development programs for a growing operations leadership team.
- Maintain/update the HRIS and other various operations systems, ensuring accurate data.
- Generate reports and analyze data.
- Provide communication to the touch-labor workforce regarding operations initiatives, policies, and events.
- Provide additional support to the operations management team as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- PHRO, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- US citizenship required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a human resources generalist or labor relations role required.
- Proven experience supporting the operations department in a warehouse, construction, manufacturing, production or similar industrial environment required.
- Prior experience working with a unionized workforce required.
- Must be able to adjust work schedule as necessary, including working additional hours in order to support a growing workforce on both first and second shifts.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating emotional intelligence.
- Knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in Excel.
- Must be a self-starter with problem-solving abilities.
- Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Able to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; detail oriented and efficient.
- Able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities in a rapidly growing organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfortable with shop floor engagement.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile.
- May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.

Schedule
Primarily supports first-shift operations but requires flexibility to support second-shift employees, supervisors, and business needs as necessary. The successful candidate will be comfortable adjusting their schedule periodically to ensure visibility, engagement, and HR support across multiple shifts.
