About the Role
This position leads processes including the development of planning, evaluation, and assessment of corporate initiatives, analysis, and proposal of strategic alternatives to enhance Ryder's market position. The Senior Financial Analyst provides financial and analytical support to Senior Financial Management, Group Logistics Managers, and Logistics Managers.
Responsibilities
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Forecasting, business planning, and branch performance analysis.
- Operational Initiatives: Work closely with Group Logistics Manager (GLM) and Logistics Manager (LM) to identify and recommend opportunities for cost/productivity improvements.
- Month-End Closing: Journal entries to re-class revenue/expenses; explanations of variances vs. forecast/annual plan; general ledger research to ensure all possible billing opportunities are captured.
- Customer invoicing, revenue posting to general ledger, and monitoring of monthly aging reports.
- Training: Provide financial training to operations staff, including policies, procedures, and financial tools.
- Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance: Conduct operations audits as needed to ensure compliance.
- Corporate: Act as a liaison with Ryder's Shared Services Center and Ryder's Corporate Accounting group.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of Finance and/or Accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of income statements and balance sheets.
- Intermediate-level skills with MS Excel, including analyzing large data sets, VLOOKUPs/HLOOKUPs, creating pivot tables, filtering options, and waterfall charts.
- Experience in the transportation/logistics industries preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and ability to prioritize workload.
- Proactive and innovative thinking and planning abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in communicating complex financial/operational information.
- Intermediate-level skills with MS Word, including styles, mail merge, tabs, tables, columns, breaks, graphics, fields, headers/footers, margins, page orientation, and spelling/grammar.
- Intermediate-level skills with MS PowerPoint, including working with templates, multimedia objects, custom animations, interactions, and publishing presentations.
- Experience with MS Access and/or other database tools is helpful but not necessary.
Pay
Salaried position with a minimum pay range of $85,000.00 and a maximum pay range of $92,000.00. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on level and/or type.
