Senior Director, Client Services (Advertising / Audio & Podcast Media)
Phoenix, AZ (In-Office) | Full-Time | $85,000 - $96,000/yr + Performance Bonus
About the Role
A Phoenix-based advertising agency specializing in host-read radio and podcast endorsements is hiring a Senior Director of Client Services to own both client relationships and media operations. The agency works with a roster of 60 of the biggest names in talk radio and podcasting, matching brands (from fast-growing tech companies to household names) with the hosts their customers trust. The company is growing rapidly, with new agency-of-record accounts that could triple the business.
This is a senior role on a small team where work shows up on national airwaves every week. The Senior Director serves as the day-to-day strategic lead for national advertisers while also handling the media buying, script distribution, and billing operations behind each campaign. Nothing gets lost in a handoff because one person owns the full cycle.
Responsibilities
Client Side:
- Serving as the day-to-day strategic lead for national advertisers, running relationships, meetings, and campaign roadmaps
- Turning promo codes, vanity URLs, and response data into clear insights on what's working and where the next dollar should go
- Owning renewals and growth by identifying upsell opportunities across more shows, hosts, markets, and larger flights
- Running quarterly business reviews with clear ROI stories, a point of view, and a plan
Operations Side:
- Negotiating media buys directly with networks, syndicators, and podcast producers to secure host-read endorsement inventory
- Building and maintaining day-to-day relationships with network reps, show producers, and host teams
- Distributing scripts and talking points to the right hosts on time, tracking approvals, revisions, and air dates
- Managing insertion orders, reconciling invoices, processing make-goods and credits, and keeping billing clean across clients, networks, and hosts
Requirements
- 7+ years in client services, account management, or media buying at an agency or media company (host-read audio, radio, or podcast experience is a strong advantage)
- Track record of keeping and growing national accounts through renewals, upsells, and relationship management
- Strong negotiation skills paired with meticulous attention to billing and financial detail
- ROI fluency, comfortable in spreadsheets and boardrooms, able to explain cost-per-acquisition to a CMO
- Executive presence and direct communication style for interfacing with national networks and advertisers
- Self-starter energy in a fast-moving, low-micromanagement environment
