About the role
The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a motivated and dynamic Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (SCNA) to join their team at Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans’ Nursing Home in Orlando, Orange County, FL.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents as assigned by the shift supervisor.
- Assist with activities of daily living, ambulation, and mobility.
- Respond promptly and courteously to call lights.
- Observe, identify, and report resident concerns or needs.
- Complete assignments within established performance standards.
- Assist with oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, grooming, hair and nail care, shaving, toileting, eating and drinking, and mobility.
- Provide assistance with related functions such as escorting to meals, assisting with laundry, and participating in activities.
- Perform restorative measures such as obtaining and recording vital signs and assisting with medication administration.
- Document services provided using facility software/databases.
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, family, and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Monitor and account for residents to support medical personnel.
Requirements
- Effective communication in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Independent and team-oriented work style.
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Florida.
- Willingness and ability to work weekends and holidays.
- Current CPR certification.
- Basic computer skills.
- Completion of the employment screening process, including a national background investigation and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a 120-bed skilled long-term care facility.
- One year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Pay & Schedule
Annual Salary: $37,420.76
Shift: 13-hour shift, 20-minute actual work time, every other weekend off.
Paid bi-weekly.
Schedule
Shift available: 6:45 am - 8:35 pm, 6:45 pm - 8:35 am.
