About the role

Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Security Project Technician to join their dynamic team. The role involves installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certifying, and customer training on assigned projects, including small or less complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation, with guidance as needed.
  • Provides technical support and training for customers and is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Familiarizes with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures, may require assistance with more complex specifications.
  • Interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, repairs equipment, utilizes knowledge of electronics, and uses standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Operates systems to demonstrate equipment, commissions new systems, analyzes performance, identifies malfunctions, writes routine programs for systems.
  • Acts as "our customer's best service provider" at all times, ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer's first choice for service.
  • Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
  • Advises management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques, and standards, and suggests product improvements.
  • Executes many technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets, including programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
  • Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties, and assists in developing and implementing strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager, assisting in overall project coordination, recommending quality of work, and identifying ways to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Willingness to learn technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Self-starter and works well with direct supervision.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis. Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Skills

  • Technical skills in fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Knowledge of blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications.
  • Ability to interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and use of standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Experience operating systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
  • Ability to write routine programs for systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to consult with engineering personnel and manage project risks.

Schedule
