About the role

The Seasonal Chef Instructor at Sur La Table is responsible for teaching cooking classes to customers in a fun and engaging manner. This position offers an opportunity to share your culinary skills and passion for food with others.

Responsibilities

  • Teach cooking classes to customers, focusing on various cuisines and techniques.
  • Prepare and present recipes in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed during class preparation and execution.
  • Engage with customers to provide personalized recommendations and answer questions about ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional cooking experience.
  • Experience teaching cooking classes or similar customer-facing roles.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for food and a desire to share that passion with others.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and a variety of cuisines.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and group sizes.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
