Position Summary
Provides sales support and generates business for all Seaboard Marine services. Represents the company's interests in customer-related functions.
Qualifications
- Three (3) years of outside sales experience in ocean transportation, or equivalent combination of experience.
- Fluency in English at an advanced level.
- Intermediate computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Clean and current Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends.
- Ability to think logically and follow procedures and instructions.
- Ability to travel frequently and overseas as needed.
- Possession of a Spanish language proficiency at an intermediate-advanced level (preferred).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Visit customers at their designated sites to secure business relationships.
- Develop and maintain a viable account base for all Seaboard Marine services.
- Foster strong business relationships and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Plan and manage a regular contact cycle to maximize effectiveness.
- Oversee the performance of assigned accounts to ensure maximum participation.
- Maintain customer records according to Sales Standards and Procedures.
- Generate and respond to sales leads for assigned accounts/territories.
- Utilize all designated resources and tools in daily job functions.
- Stay informed about tariff changes and regulatory updates.
- Manage service contract renewals based on time criteria set by sales management.
- Attend department meetings, industry events, and customer meetings.
- Communicate with regional and overseas offices to develop new business and resolve issues.
- Provide regular updates to sales leadership on the area of responsibility.
Physical Requirements
- Regular use of fingers.
- Continuous driving during daylight and evening hours.
- Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Continuous talking and hearing.
- Continuous sitting, standing, or walking.
- Exposure to outdoor environments during travel for client visits and meetings (70%) and indoor office environment (30%).
- Exposure to non-controlled temperature and office environment-controlled temperature intermittently during the day.
