About the role
The Sales Estimator role at our client company is a full-time, on-site position based in Edina, MN.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing plans and specifications, preparing accurate material and labor takeoffs/estimates, and developing competitive bids for structural steel projects.
- Analyzing project requirements, collaborating with detailing and production teams, and clarifying technical details with customers and contractors.
- Maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, identifying new business opportunities, and providing timely, clear communication regarding project scope, pricing, and schedules.
- Updating internal systems with estimate data, tracking bid outcomes, and supporting continuous improvement in estimating processes and standards.
Qualifications
- Strong customer-facing skills, including Customer Service and Communication, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Proficiency in Sales and Business Development, with experience identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and supporting revenue growth.
- Demonstrated capability in Project Estimation, including reading design drawings, interpreting specifications, and calculating material, labor, and fabrication costs.
- Solid computer skills and competence with standard office applications (e.g., spreadsheets, documents).
- Knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals, fabrication processes, or construction industry practices is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
Requirements
- Relevant education or experience in construction management, engineering, drafting, or a related field; prior estimating of structural steel is required, experience in misc. metals is a plus.
