Position Summary
The Tasting Consultant at the Round Barn Estates provides exceptional, knowledgeable service to guests experiencing the winery, brewery, and distillery offerings. This role is responsible for guiding guests through curated tasting experiences, sharing product knowledge, promoting wine club memberships, and ensuring guests enjoy a warm, engaging, and memorable visit. As a front-line representative of the Round Barn brand, the Tasting Consultant delivers hospitality with confidence, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Tasting Experience & Guest Interaction
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming environment in the tasting room.
- Guide guests through flights, tastings, and beverage offerings with enthusiasm and accuracy.
- Share detailed product knowledge, including tasting notes, production methods, and Round Barn history.
- Personalize recommendations based on guest preferences and interests.
- Maintain an upbeat, positive attitude during high-volume service.
- Sales & Membership Engagement
- Promote bottle sales, wine club memberships, special releases, and promotional offerings.
- Accurately operate the POS system for sales, tastings, and merchandise transactions.
- Drive revenue through upselling and reinforcing the value of Round Barn’s products and experiences.
- Assist guests with carrying purchases, packaging bottles, and coordinating pick-up orders.
- Tasting Room Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked tasting station.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including restocking, setting up tasting flights, and cleaning glassware.
- Support team members with bussing tables, resetting service areas, and maintaining public spaces.
- Brand Education & Representation
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Round Barn’s wines, beers, spirits, ingredients, and production processes.
- Communicate the Round Barn story, philosophies, and values with authenticity.
- Represent the brand professionally in all interactions—appearance, communication, and service style.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to confidently speak with guests and share product knowledge.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Availability on weekends, holidays, and special event days.
Preferred
- Prior experience in wine/beer/spirits service, tasting rooms, or hospitality.
- Knowledge of basic wine terminology and beverage industry concepts (training provided).
- POS experience and comfort with retail or sales environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand/walk for 6–10 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (cases of wine/beer).
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors depending on service needs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
