About the role
The Pediatric Intensive Care unit, located on the WKS campus, is designed to meet the needs of critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. Specially trained staff have the knowledge, skills, and judgement to provide quality care to the critically ill to achieve the best possible outcome for the children we serve. We believe in family-centered care, involving the parents/family and patients in all aspects of care, including decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Assess and document patient conditions accurately and timely.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessment.
- Provide direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing treatments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive care.
- Involving parents/families and patients in all aspects of care, including decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Louisiana.
- Current BLS certification.
- Experience in pediatric intensive care preferred.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills
- Knowledge of pediatric nursing practices and procedures.
- Ability to manage stress and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in computer systems used for patient care documentation.
