About the role
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at WK Pierremont Nursing Service consists of 20 beds and is located on Tower 5. It is a Joint Commission-approved Primary Stroke Center that serves patients with various conditions such as cardiovascular, respiratory, surgical, orthopedic-neurological, and medical disorders requiring intensive care.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous extraordinary care to patients requiring ventilatory management, hemodynamic titrations, EVD management, and other invasive monitoring skills.
- Administer Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Therapeutic Plasma Exchanges (TPE).
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care delivery team, the patient, and their family to develop and implement a coordinated plan of care.
- Maintain a respectful environment for patients, their families, and fellow staff members.
Requirements
- Specialized skills for critical thinking, accurate assessment, and exceptional communication with providers.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2.
- Orientation for new graduates includes an initial "Kick-Start" program, a structured 14-week preceptorship, and weekly Collaborative Skills Review.
- New graduates and nurses with less than one year of experience will participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
- Nurses with more than one year of experience but without critical care experience will receive an orientation based on their experience and comfort level.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred but can be obtained free of charge upon employment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Louisiana.
- At least one year of acute care experience, preferably in an ICU setting.
- Experience with CRRT and TPE administration.

Pay
$21.89 - $25.31 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, Monday through Friday.
