RN Neuro PCU Nights
About the Role
We’re seeking full-time experienced Registered Nurses to join our Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. This 38-bed telemetry-monitored unit provides care for a wide variety of patients, including a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and an award-winning Comprehensive Stroke Center certified through the Joint Commission.
Conditions primarily treated on this unit include:
- Hemicraniectomy
- Aneurysm Clip and Coils
- Glioblastomas
- Carotid Endarterectomy
- TIA
- Stroke – Hemorrhagic and Ischemic
- Neurosurgery
- Seizures
- Brain Mass
This role operates on a night shift schedule (7pm-7am) for 36 hours per week, following a team nursing model that emphasizes collaboration and safe, compassionate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, quality, and compassionate patient care within the Neuro PCU
- Practice within a team nursing model, collaborating with colleagues to improve patient outcomes
- Function competently and effectively under pressure and in emergency situations
- Engage in evidence-based practice, research, and innovation to advance nursing care
- Participate in unit-based councils and shared governance to drive nursing practice and professional development
Requirements
- Graduate of an RN School of Nursing (ADN required; BSN preferred)
- Must be licensed to practice professional nursing by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (must obtain within 30 days of hire if not already certified)
- Preferred 12-18 months of RN experience in an acute care or hospital setting
