About the role
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Phoenix, Arizona. The role is in a Level I trauma center acute care setting within the Cardiac Cath Lab unit.
Shift and schedule
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM, Monday–Friday
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- On-call required: varied 6 to 10 shifts per schedule with a 30-minute response time
- Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required as part of rotation
Facility and unit details
- Level I Trauma Center acute care setting, Cardiac Cath Lab unit
- 3 main cath lab bays plus 1 EP lab and 1 hybrid room (vascular and cardiac cases)
- 10–25 cases per day; RN role is circulating only (no scrub)
- Patient population includes interventional, EP lab, peripheral, and cardiology/vascular cases such as mitral clip, TAVR, IABP, and Emtala placements
- Uses Cerner and Xper charting systems
- Philips telemetry monitoring and Philips/Siemens equipment
- Charge nurse support available on unit
- 24/7 RT and pharmacy support
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Level I trauma center experience required (busy Level II may be considered)
- Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) with a minimum score of 80% prior to offer confirmation, limited to two attempts
- Must pass a Sterile Technique skills check (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change) via simulation lab on first day of orientation, pass/fail with two attempts
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified by driver's license; local rates do not apply
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
- Failure of the Relias exam or Sterile Technique test on the second attempt results in a 6-month do-not-use status with CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento region facilities
Orientation and training
- RNs will circulate in the cath lab while techs scrub in
- 2-day floor-specific orientation provided upon start
- Study guides and videos provided in preparation for the Relias Dysrhythmia exam
- Additional simulation lab training required for lifts, restraints, and wound care (educational, non pass/fail)
- Scrubs provided by facility
