About the role
This position is for the Medical ICU, specifically working with Open Heart Surgery and Neurosurgery pods.
Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and revise patient care plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Perform patient assessments, collect health data, and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Provide patient and family education tailored to individual needs, cultural background, and learning styles.
- Collaborate with colleagues, contribute to professional development, and support a compassionate, supportive environment.
- Assist technical staff with procedures, participate in performance improvement and research activities, and monitor wound/ostomy care if skilled.
- Transport acutely ill patients as needed and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing; Bachelor's preferred, with a requirement to obtain within five years if applicable.
- Current Illinois RN license.
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
- At least one year of inpatient nursing experience; ICU, ER, radiology, or wound/ostomy experience preferred.
- Certifications such as CWON or CWCN are advantageous.
