Texas Workforce Commission connects people with careers across the state. This position is located at 1117 Trinity St., Austin, Texas in the Risk and Security Management department. About the role

The Risk Management Specialist II performs moderately complex (journey-level) risk management work. Work involves implementing agency risk management programs and conducting risk management. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in the planning, developing, and implementing department statewide initiatives.
  • Conduct compliance reviews for mandatory bulletin boards.
  • Assist with risk assessments program.
  • Develop, implement, and review risk management program policies and procedures.
  • Assist with department incident reports for assessment and risk mitigation.
  • Review risk programs for compliance with applicable state laws and agency policies.
  • Conduct on-site inspections of agency facilities to identify hazards and risk exposures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of full-time experience in planning or operation of risk management, information security, loss control, and/or the workers' compensation and safety programs.
  • Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of statutes, rules/regulations, standards, guidelines, and best practices involving risk management, compliance and insurance.
  • Ability to gather, correlate, and analyze facts, to devise solutions to problems.
  • Proficiency in developing, evaluating, and interpreting policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of program management processes and techniques.
  • State agency experience.

Schedule

Duty involves up to 25% travel within the state of Texas.
