About the role

As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy, and must be passionate about service while modeling this behavior in all aspects of job performance. During a shift, you may be assigned to any of our departments based on customer or business needs, including:

  • Front end of the store, selling merchandise and assisting customers through checkout
  • Sales floor in Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, or Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply departments, replenishing freight and rotating product
  • Assisting during special store events such as Vendor Fairs, sales floor resets, and inventory processes

The starting rate is $20.50/hr.

Schedule

Flexible hours available Monday through Saturday between 4:00am and 7:00pm, and Sunday between 7:00am and 5:00pm.

Responsibilities

  • Front End:
    • Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships
    • Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately, including scanning, weighing, and looking up unscannable products
    • Perform cart-to-cart transfers, inspect for product tampering, and verify purchases as customers leave the store
    • Perform store opening and/or closing functions at the front end based on assigned shift
  • Sales Floor and Stocking:
    • Increase sales and manage shrinkage while assisting customers in finding products and services
    • Receive inventory shipments, maintain and stock shelves neatly, and ensure proper rotation and product quality
    • Report low stock levels and ensure all merchandise is properly labeled (e.g., blaster tagging, catch weight labels, PLU tags)
    • Replenish sales floor daily by down stocking freight from top stock, following FIFO principles
    • Use reach trucks and pallet jacks for product movement and stocking
    • Assist with price changes and participate in inventory and cycle count processes
  • Customer Courtesy:
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility for staff and customers
    • Notify management of safety issues and correct them if possible
    • Clean sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot, and store entry area
    • Gather carts from the parking lot and ensure they are clean and operable
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Store Management

Requirements

  • Minimum 6–12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience
  • One year of retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Desire and ability to deliver exceptional customer service and adaptability to assist other employees
  • Good common sense, logical thinking, and basic mathematical aptitude
  • Self-motivated, able to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently or within a team
  • Flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends
  • Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with general office equipment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Freight handling experience is a plus

  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently (e.g., typing, use of office machines)

Work is performed in a retail store setting, open to the public, with exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate. Work may require use of a ladder or elevated surfaces, and temperatures vary from -10 to 85 degrees.

Pay

Compensation depends on relevant experience, education, skills, function, and geographic location. The expected base rate for this role is between $17.13 and $27 per hour.
