About the role
As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy, and must be passionate about service while modeling this behavior in all aspects of job performance. During a shift, you may be assigned to any of our departments based on customer or business needs, including:
- Front end of the store: selling merchandise and assisting customers through checkout
- Sales floor: working in Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, or Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply departments, replenishing freight, and rotating product
- Assisting during special store events such as Vendor Fairs, sales floor resets, and inventory processes
Responsibilities
- Front End:
- Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships
- Utilize tools and skills from CHEF’STORE Way training to model behavior in-store
- Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately, including scanning, weighing, and looking up unscannable products
- Ensure accurate barcode reflection in the system and report discrepancies to Front End Lead or Manager of Day (MOD)
- Perform cart-to-cart transfer of products at checkout, including visual inspection for tampering
- Verify cart content vs. purchases as customers leave the store
- Perform store opening and/or closing functions at the front end based on assigned shift
- Sales Floor and Stocking:
- Increase sales and manage shrinkage while assisting customers in finding products and services
- Receive inventory shipments, maintain and stock shelves neatly, and ensure proper rotation and product quality audits
- Report low stock levels to store management
- Label merchandise properly, including blaster tagging, catch weight labels, and PLU tags
- Replenish sales floor daily by down-stocking freight from top stock, following FIFO (First In, First Out)
- Use reach trucks and pallet jacks for product movement and stocking
- Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and proprietary software as needed
- Assist with price changes as directed by Pricing Lead and Store Management
- Participate in inventory and cycle count processes
- Customer Courtesy:
- Maintain a well-kept, safe environment for staff and customers by following safety policies
- Notify store management of safety issues and correct if possible
- Ensure cleanliness of sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot, and store entry area
- Gather carts from the parking lot and cart corrals, ensuring they are clean and operable
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by Store Management
Requirements
- Minimum 6–12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience
- One year of retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred
- Desire and ability to deliver exceptional customer service
- Adaptability and willingness to assist other employees
- Good common sense, logical thinking, and basic mathematical aptitude
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently or within a team
- Flexible hourly schedule, including holidays and weekends
- Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with general office equipment
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience

Work is performed in a retail store setting, open to the public, with exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate. Work may require use of a ladder or elevated surfaces. Temperature varies throughout the store, ranging from -10 to 85 degrees.
Schedule
- Full-Time with benefits starting Day 1
- 30–40 hours weekly
- Must be able to open or close as needed

Pay
Starting at $17.69 per hour. The expected base rate for this role is between $17.13 and $24, depending on relevant experience, education, skills, function, and geographic location.
