Retail Sales Associate FT
About the role
The CHEF’STORE Sales Associate helps maintain an atmosphere of superior customer service, promoting the US Foods strategy: Great Food, Made Easy. As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy. During a shift, you will be assigned to any of our departments based on customer and business needs, such as the front end, Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, or Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply departments.
Responsibilities
- Front End:
- Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing customer relationships.
- Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately, including scanning merchandise, weighing products, and handling discrepancies.
- Perform cart-to-cart transfers, visual inspections for product tampering, and receipt checking.
- Perform store opening and/or closing functions at the front end.
- Sales Floor and Stocking:
- Increase sales and manage shrinkage while assisting customers in finding products.
- Receive inventory shipments, stock shelves neatly, and ensure proper product rotation (FIFO).
- Label merchandise, including blaster tagging, catch weight labels, and PLU tags for produce.
- Replenish sales floor daily by down stocking freight and ensuring product accessibility and visual appeal.
- Assist with price changes, store opening/closing duties, and inventory processes.
- Use equipment such as reach trucks, pallet jacks, and computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Customer Courtesy:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained store environment, including sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot, and entry area.
- Gather carts from the parking lot and ensure they are clean and operable.
- Notify store management of safety issues and correct them if possible.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Store Management.
Requirements
- Minimum 6–12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience.
- One year of retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with general office equipment.
- Ability to work a flexible hourly schedule, including holidays and weekends.
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift (1–100 lbs), carry, push/pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, reach, twist, grasp, and manipulate objects continuously or frequently as required by the role.
- Exposure to varying temperatures (-10 to 85 degrees) and outside weather conditions.

- Good common sense, logical thinking, and basic mathematical aptitude.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently or within a team.
- Freight handling experience is a plus.
Pay
The expected base rate for this role is between $17.13 and $27 per hour, with a starting rate of $21.30/hour. Compensation depends on relevant experience, education, skills, and geographic location.
Schedule
Flexible schedule required, including availability to work Monday through Sunday between the hours of 5:00 AM and 7:00 PM based on business needs.
