Retail Optician

Essential Responsibilities

• Aid customers in selecting frames, fitting and dispensing frames.
• Utilize technical information to interpret prescriptions for frame and lens selection.
• Provide accurate product information about frames, lenses, and services to customers.
• Inform customers about benefits covered by Third Party insurance and any additional charges.
• Identify customer needs using the SERVE sales process and make appropriate lens recommendations.
• Use demonstration tools to assist in product selection and ensure accuracy of prescriptions.
• Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions and communicate with the lab and optometrist for accuracy.
• Sell, fit, and dispense frames and accessories, ensuring correct measurements and adjustments.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
• Ensure accuracy of customer pricing for retail customers.
• Maintain license requirements according to state guidelines.
• Provide feedback and guidance to apprentice opticians.
• Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies.
• Participate in training and educational activities.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and facility.
• Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current State Optician's Certificate.
• Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in optical products, services, prescription analysis, fitting, and dispensing.

• Basic computer literacy.
• Strong communication skills.
• Outgoing, positive professional personality and appearance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible to support change and work onsite.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and reach most of the time.
• Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
• Work in a moderate noise environment.

Pay & Benefits

Position provides competitive pay and benefits. Specific terms are set forth in the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with a minimum pay rate of $20 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary based on experience to a maximum of $30 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities also available.
