Retail Licensed Optician

Summary

Aids customers in selecting, fitting, and dispensing frames. Utilizes technical information to interpret prescriptions and assist with optical products and services. Works under social distancing requirements and follows cleaning protocols.

Responsibilities

• Aid customers in frame and lens selection while maintaining social distance.
• Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols, and hygiene practices.
• Provide accurate product information about frames, lenses, and services.
• Inform customers about Third-Party insurance coverage and additional charges.
• Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and make lens recommendations.
• Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions, communicate with the lab and optometrist for accuracy, and sell, fit, and dispense frames and accessories.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
• Ensure customer pricing accuracy.
• Maintain license requirements according to state guidelines.
• Provide feedback and guidance to apprentice opticians.
• Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies.
• Participate in training and educational activities.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and facility daily.
• Complete additional responsibilities as needed due to changing business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in optical products, prescriptions, fitting, and dispensing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Flexibility to support change and work independently and as part of a team.
• Outgoing, positive professional personality and appearance.

Benefits

Competitive pay and benefits package, including a sign-on bonus. Specific terms are set forth in the Company's collective bargaining agreement with a minimum pay rate of $24.50 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary based on experience up to a maximum of $36.75 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities also available.

Pay

$24.50 - $36.75 per hour, up to $4,000 sign on bonus.
