Retail Licensed Optician - Traveler
About the Role
Assists customers with frame selection, fits and dispenses frames. Utilizes technical information to interpret prescriptions and assist customers with the selection of optical products and services.
Pay
Full-time position with a pay range of $27 - $40.50 per hour. Specific terms are set forth in the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with a minimum pay rate of $27 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary based on experience to a maximum of $40.50 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities are also available.
Responsibilities
- Assist each customer in frame and lens selection while meeting social distance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols, and hygiene practices such as frequent handwashing, avoiding handshakes, covering nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing, and avoiding touching eyes/nose/mouth with unwashed hands.
- Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections, and other services.
- Provide customers covered by Third Party insurance with accurate information regarding benefits to ensure proper selection of frames and lenses.
- Inform customers of any additional charges not covered by their Third Party insurance coverage.
- Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations based on patient needs, including all available demonstration tools.
- Analyze and interpret patients’ prescriptions.
- Communicate as necessary with the Lab and Optometrist to ensure accuracy of prescription.
- Sell, fit, and dispense frames and other accessories through accurate measurements, verification of ordered products, and adjustments of various optical products in accordance with the Eyewear Presentation.
- Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
- Ensure accuracy of customer pricing for retail customers.
- Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines.
- Provide feedback and guidance to Apprentice Opticians where applicable.
- Adhere to privacy and confidential and proprietary company policies and procedures (e.g., HIPAA).
- Participate in training and educational activities necessary to fulfill departmental goals and maintain professional affiliations or organizational requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness of all equipment, workstations, and the overall facility daily.
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned based on changing business needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
- Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in explaining optical products, services, analysis, and interpretation of optical prescriptions, fitting, and dispensing.
