Pay

$27.00 - $40.50 per hour plus incentive opportunities. Starting pay may vary based on experience up to a maximum of $40.50 per hour. Union position with competitive pay and benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist each customer in frame and lens selection while meeting social distance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols, and hygiene practices (e.g., frequent handwashing, avoiding handshakes, covering coughs/sneezes, avoiding face-touching).
  • Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections, and other services.
  • Assist customers covered by Third Party insurance with accurate benefit information to ensure proper selection of frames and lenses; inform customers of any additional charges not covered by their insurance.
  • Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations based on patient needs, using all available demonstration tools.
  • Analyze and interpret patients’ prescriptions; communicate with the Lab and Optometrist to ensure prescription accuracy.
  • Sell, fit, and dispense frames and accessories using accurate measurements, verification of ordered products, and adjustments of optical products in accordance with Eyewear Presentation standards.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
  • Ensure accuracy of customer pricing for retail customers.
  • Maintain state licensure requirements for ophthalmic dispensing.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to Apprentice Opticians where applicable.
  • Adhere to privacy, confidentiality, and proprietary company policies and procedures (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Participate in training and educational activities to meet departmental goals and maintain professional affiliations or organizational requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all equipment, workstations, and the overall facility daily.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned based on changing business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to explain optical products, services, prescription analysis, interpretation, fitting, and dispensing.

  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
