SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Affirms assessments of respiratory patients to determine physical and emotional care needs and capabilities.
- Adjusts inpatient care regimens to ensure individualized effectiveness, utilizing protocols or physician contacts as needed.
- Educates patients and/or caregivers about physiologic processes affecting their conditions, lifestyle modifications, equipment, and medication use.
- Collaborates with physicians for respiratory consultations to implement appropriate and effective care orders and protocols, and gather diagnostic information.
- Reports adverse effects, including signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction, from therapies and medications.
- Maintains 50% attendance on an annual basis at staff meetings.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and affiliations.
- Fulfills safe work practices and policies, including security, safety, MSDS understanding, infection control, fire, disaster response, and proper lifting techniques.
- Complies with organization policies and labor agreements.
- Communicates effectively with team members and support groups in a professional manner.
- Ensures personal appearance meets professional standards.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited two-year Respiratory Care Practitioner education program (or equivalent state regulatory criteria).
- Two years of postgraduate acute care respiratory care experience preferred.
- CRT, RRT eligibility, or RRT credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), and State of Washington Respiratory Care Practitioner Certification/License.
- Current BLS (Healthcare Provider Level), ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.
