Research Associate in Flow Generated Noise

About the role
The Research Associate (Level A) in aeroacoustics is expected to contribute towards the research effort of UNSW and to develop their research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects relevant to their particular field of research. The role will support a Defence Science & Technology Group (DSTG) research agreement concerning the measurement, prediction and analysis of flow generated noise. The Research Associate will be based with the Flow Noise Group in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at UNSW Sydney and reports to Manuj Awasthi. This is a fixed-term, full-time (35 hours per week) position for 2 years.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality academic research in experimental aeroacoustics, turbulence measurements, and/or wind tunnel testing.
- Perform high-speed data acquisition and signal processing.
- Contribute to numerical modelling tools for fluid flow and acoustic analysis (desirable but not essential).
- Publish research findings and present at conferences relative to opportunity.
- Collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships within the research team and with diverse stakeholders.
- Engage with students and stakeholders through clear communication and interaction.
Requirements
- Australian citizenship (mandatory).
- A PhD in a related discipline and/or relevant work experience.
- Experience in experimental aeroacoustics, turbulence measurements, and/or wind tunnel testing.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

Pay
Salary: Level A - $118,467 per annum + 17% superannuation.
