About Blumen Blumen is rebuilding how America builds infrastructure. There's over $2 trillion in infrastructure projects stuck in regulatory purgatory across the US right now. Every power plant, transmission line, data center, and pipeline faces the same reality: navigating thousands of federal, state, and local regulations through broken government websites, expensive services that miss critical requirements, and bespoke tools that only work in one state. We've built the AI platform that aggregates 1,500+ geospatial data layers and regulatory intelligence to generate expert-grade permitting, siting, and regulatory compliance insights in hours instead of weeks. We're working with publicly traded energy companies and the developers building the infrastructure backbone of America's energy transition. The Opportunity Blumen is building the regulatory intelligence layer for how America builds energy and critical infrastructure. Your job is to build the knowledge underneath it. We're looking for a detail-oriented environmental or permitting professional who can turn complex laws, regulations, and agency guidance into structured, scalable data; the kind that powers software used across thousands of projects. This is a role for someone who can move between deep focus and big-picture thinking: digging into zoning codes and agency guidance one hour, and the next hour strategizing about how that logic should be modeled so it holds up in every jurisdiction we add. What You'll Do Research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations across jurisdictionsStructure and tag regulatory information so it can power automation and compliance workflowsReview and quality-check Blumen's regulatory datasets for accuracy and completenessFind the ambiguity, edge cases, and contradictions others miss, then define how we handle themCommunicate product gaps, workflow problems, and data quality issues clearly to engineering and productWork alongside engineers, product managers, and domain experts to turn complex regulations into structured logicBuild the internal methodologies, documentation, and quality standards this work runs on You're a Fit If You've worked in permitting, environmental compliance, land use, or regulatory analysis for several yearsYou're exceptionally detail-oriented and notice inconsistencies others missYou think critically instead of working down a checklistYou can get your bearings quickly in an unfamiliar regulatory frameworkYou write clearly, concisely, and with precisionYou separate observation from conclusion, and surface problems before proposing solutionsYou enjoy turning complex information into simple, scalable systemsYou're comfortable balancing repetitive quality control with independent critical thinkingYou want to build a software product, not produce one-off consulting deliverables Bonus Points If You Have Familiarity with NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, or state equivalentsExperience interpreting statutes, regulations, permits, contracts, or technical standardsGIS or spatial dataset experiencePrior experience in environmental consulting, data QA, or government permittingAI or data product experience Our values Put yourself in the customer’s shoes. We care deeply about serving our customers above all else. No job is too small. Details matter, even if nobody will ever see them. Every problem is an opportunity. Any solution that is clever, difficult to reproduce, or takes serious guts is an opportunity to widen our moat. To go far, go together. We trust, respect, win, and lose together, as a team. Own the problem. Not your solution. Best idea wins. It doesn’t get easier. We just get faster. There is no finish line. Every day is a step toward compounding success. This is a marathon toward excellence. Compensation Range: $120K - $180K
