About the role

Registration Associate at St. Peter's Hospital. A two-week training period is required, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Holiday and/or weekend rotation is required. St. Peter's Health Partners is seeking an individual to assist with clerical duties associated with keeping the department running smoothly. This is an entry-level Patient Access Representative I position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-focused customer service.
  • Perform outpatient and/or inpatient registration and insurance verification functions.
  • Collect patient financial liability payments.
  • Ensure patients meet financial requirements, including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals.
  • Provide general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices.
  • Research, collect, and analyze information; identify opportunities, develop solutions, and lead through resolution.
  • Collaborate on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency and patient experience.
  • Distribute analytical reports.
  • Use multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports, and develop educational materials.
  • Incorporate basic knowledge of Trinity Health policies, practices, and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality, and safety are prioritized.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and the ability to readily acquire new knowledge.
  • Research and compile information to support ad-hoc operational projects and initiatives.
  • Synthesize and analyze data and provide detailed summaries, including graphical data presentations illustrating trends, and recommend practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy and supporting leadership decision-making.
  • Leverage program and operational data and measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI, and impacts.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, the Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, and other relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior and safe work practices.
  • Know, understand, incorporate, and demonstrate the Trinity Health Mission, Values, Vision, Actions, and Promise in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience.
  • HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
  • Patient Access experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Medical terminology required.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding.
  • Insurance verification with the ability to explain benefits and secure necessary authorizations.

Pay

Pay range: $17.25–$22.54 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
