Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric (NY HELPS), Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, Children and Youth, P28111
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned nursing and direct care staff
- Direct and review the work of nursing staff
- Prepare and monitor staffing schedules
- Develop daily staffing plans for nursing care
- Ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements
Qualifications
License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, and 3 years of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.
- Substitution: Bachelor’s degree in nursing can substitute for 1 year of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience; a master’s degree in nursing can substitute for 2 years.
- Internal State Service candidates may qualify with:
- 1 year as Registered Nurse 2 (and all parenthetics) or Registered Nurse 3 (and all parenthetics);
- 2 years as any Grade 18 or higher position requiring a NYS RN license;
- Permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in titles such as Community Mental Health Nurse, Community Nursing Services Consultant (Developmental Disabilities), Community Nursing Services Consultant (Home Health Services), Community Nursing Services Consultant (Mental Health), Health Services Nurse, Hospital Nursing Services Consultant, Infection Control Nurse, Medical Care Representative, Nurse 1‑3 and all parenthetics, Teaching & Research Center Nurse 1‑2, Teaching & Research Center Specialty Nurse, Senior Utilization Review Nurse;
- One year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law;
- Non‑competitive promotion eligibility: 2 years of permanent service as a Registered Nurse 2 Psychiatric.
Additional requirements: background check required; must not be listed as an excluded individual/entity on Federal/State Medicaid/Medicare exclusion lists; if appointed, may need to become an enrolled Medicare provider, obtain an NPI number, and actively participate to allow billing through Medicare/Medicaid; loss of billing eligibility may result in termination.

Pay
Posted hiring rate includes statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($82,326), an Increase Hiring Rate ($10,852), and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($104,230) and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000).
