About the Role

New York City Children's Center is seeking a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric to supervise registered nurses and direct care staff.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and review the work of nursing staff
  • Prepare and monitor staffing schedules
  • Develop daily staffing plans for nursing care
  • Ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements

Qualifications

Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, and 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.
  • A master’s degree in nursing may substitute for 1 year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
  • A doctorate in nursing may substitute for 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.

Candidates from within State Service may also qualify if they have:

  • 1 year of experience as Registered Nurse 2 or Registered Nurse 3.
  • 2 years of experience in any Grade 18 or higher position that requires a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
  • Due to the December 22, 2022 title structure change, permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in the following titles: Community Mental Health Nurse (and all parenthetics), Community Nursing Services Consultant (Developmental Disabilities), Community Nursing Services Consultant (Home Health Services), Community Nursing Services Consultant (Mental Health), Health Services Nurse, Hospital Nursing Services Consultant, Infection Control Nurse, Medical Care Representative, Nurse 1 (and all parenthetics), Nurse 2 (and all parenthetics), Nurse 3 (and all parenthetics), Teaching & Research Center Nurse 1, Teaching & Research Center Nurse 2, Teaching & Research Center Specialty Nurse, or Senior Utilization Review Nurse.
  • One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Pay

Posted hiring rate: $132,178 (includes statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($82,326), Increase Hiring Rate ($10,852), Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000), and Downstate Adjustment ($4,000)).

Posted job rate: $121,230 (includes statutory job rate ($86,230), Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000), and Downstate Adjustment ($4,000)).

Additional compensation may apply based on shift assignment:

  • 7% shift differential for evening shift
  • 10% shift differential for night shift

Additional Requirements

  • Background checks will be required.
  • Must maintain a valid license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; failure to do so may result in removal from the position.
  • Must not be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any Federal or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program).
  • If appointed, may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider, obtain and provide a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number, and actively participate to allow for billing through Medicare and Medicaid.
