About the role
Rochester Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric to supervise registered nurses and direct care. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned nursing and direct care staff
- Direct and review the work of nursing staff
- Prepare and monitor staffing schedules
- Develop daily staffing plans for nursing care
- Ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric if they have:
- License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State
- 3 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders
Substitution:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing can substitute for 1 year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
- Master’s degree in nursing can substitute for 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
OR
Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Pay
Registered Nurse Supervisors 1 Psychiatric are eligible for shift differential pay:
- 7% for evening and weekend day shifts
- 10% for night shifts
The posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($82,326), an Increase Hiring Rate ($10,852), and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($104,230) and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000).
