About the Role
Elmira Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric to supervise registered nurses and direct care staff.
Responsibilities
- Direct and review the work of nursing staff
- Prepare and monitor staffing schedules
- Develop daily staffing plans for nursing care
- Ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements
Requirements
Candidates may qualify under the following criteria:
- Outside or within State Service (NY HELPS program):
- License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State
- 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders
- Substitution: A master’s degree in nursing may substitute for 1 year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
- Substitution: A doctorate in nursing may substitute for 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
- Within State Service:
- 1 year of experience as Registered Nurse 2 or Registered Nurse 3
- OR 2 years of experience in any Grade 18 or higher position requiring a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State
- OR permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in qualifying titles (e.g., Community Mental Health Nurse, Nurse 1, Nurse 2, etc.)
- OR 1 year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law

Pay
Hiring rate: $113,178 (includes statutory hiring rate, increase hiring rate, and geographic pay differential).
Job rate: $124,230 (includes statutory job rate and geographic pay differential).
Shift differential pay: 7% for evening and weekend day shifts, 10% for night shifts.
Additional Notes
- Background checks will be required.
- Maintaining a valid license and registration is mandatory; failure to do so may result in removal from the position.
- Exclusion from Federal or State Medicaid/Medicare programs may result in termination.
- If appointed, you may need to enroll as a Medicare provider, obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number, and actively participate in billing through Medicare and Medicaid.
