Role & Responsibilities
- Oversees patient care activities during assigned shifts, ensuring quality and cost-effective operations
- Assists with staff evaluations and develops unit goals
- Assigns patient care and provides direct care when needed
- Leads staff training and participates in quality improvement projects
- Ensures compliance with safety and organizational standards
- Manages staffing schedules and monitors resource utilization
- Contributes to department budgeting
- Coordinates new hire onboarding and maintains current competencies
- Participates in committee work and special projects
- Ensures patient safety and accurate care documentation
- Addresses ethical and safety concerns
- Follows crisis protocols and leads calm, effective responses in emergency situations
- Supports staff development and contributes to organizational goals
Qualifications & Skills
- Current California RN license
- BLS certification
- ACLS required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of acute care experience
- Recent supervisory or management experience preferred
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to evaluate staff performance
- Knowledge of age-specific patient care
