Registered Nurse - Night Shift

About the role

Registered Nurse providing patient assessment, care planning, documentation, and evaluation in a mental health setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions, develop and implement care plans, and document care activities.
• Promote a safe, therapeutic environment, supervise staff, and ensure timely rounds and precautions.
• Coordinate with departments for admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring thorough communication.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to address physical, psychosocial, and discharge needs.
• Participate in interdisciplinary planning, contribute to department goals, and support quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in hiring, orientation, and training of staff; serve as a role model and resource for students.
• Attend training sessions, explain policies, and engage with community groups to promote mental health awareness.
• Supervise patient care within budget constraints, managing staffing, supplies, and equipment.

Qualifications & Skills

• Valid Illinois RN license and CPR certification.
• Preferred: psychiatric experience, understanding of abnormal psychology, and therapeutic systems management.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional competence.
