Registered Nurse - night shift

Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is a highly specialized behavioral health system operated by the State of Minnesota, providing treatment programs, residential, and vocational services for individuals with serious mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and more.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care, assess patient needs, and develop individualized plans. You will participate in implementing care and treatment determined by nursing staff and supervisors within Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center, a secure inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness. The population includes individuals civilly committed for specialized care, such as competency for criminal court (Rule 20), emergency 48-hour bed holds, and co-occurring mental illness/chemical dependency.

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing assessments of each patient’s biopsychosocial needs
• Develop initial nursing plan of care
• Perform charge nurse duties
• Apply interventions identified in the treatment plan and document all nursing care
• Facilitate and co-facilitate group programming
• Interact respectfully with all patients while maintaining professional boundaries
• Provide input on patients’ progress and recommend changes to the treatment plan
• Participate in discharge planning with the patient and other team members

Requirements

• Possess or be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota
• Future Registered Nurses within six months of graduating and taking their NCLEX-RN are encouraged to apply; contingent job offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and passing of NCLEX-RN
• Resume must clearly describe experience, including beginning and ending month and year for each job held
• Applicants must provide a copy of their high school diploma or college transcript/degree at the time of interview
• Documentation of freedom from tuberculosis (TB) via a blood test is required prior to employment; TB skin testing is not accepted
• Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment; sponsorship for work visas is not provided

• Experience working in a mental health setting

Pay

$40.59 - $60.06 hourly; $84,751 - $125,405 annually. This position may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $10,000; current state employees are not eligible.

Schedule

• Night shift: 11:30 PM - 7:30 AM
• Days of work vary, including every other weekend
• Full-time, unlimited (regular) position
