Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit

About the role

Provides comprehensive nursing care in correctional health settings, including planning, delivering, documenting, and evaluating patient care based on individual needs and established standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing staff
• Assesses patient conditions, reports findings, and maintains accurate documentation of care, treatment, and responses
• Upholds organizational mission, values, and customer service standards

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current RN licensure in Ohio
• Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire
• Strong knowledge of nursing theory, medical sciences, asepsis, and use of medical instruments
• Ability to foster positive relationships with staff and medical teams
• High physical coordination and dexterity

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN
• Correctional health care experience
• Specialized certifications such as CCN or CCHP

Skills & Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods
• Visual and auditory acuity
• Capacity to lift and push heavy weights with assistance
• Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, chemicals, and cleaning agents
