Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit

About the role

Provides nursing care within correctional healthcare settings, ensuring patient needs are met according to provider instructions and recognized standards.

Responsibilities

• Plans, delivers, documents, and evaluates patient care
• Supervises assigned nursing staff
• Observes and reports patient conditions
• Maintains accurate care documentation
• Upholds organizational values and customer service standards

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Ohio
• Basic Life Support certification or willing to obtain within 90 days

Required Skills

• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice, medical asepsis, and proper use of nursing instruments and supplies
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Physical dexterity and coordination

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Correctional healthcare experience
• Specialty certifications such as Certified Corrections Nurse (CCN) or Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk
• Lift and push heavy weights with assistance
• Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, chemicals, and cleaning products
