Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Float

About the role

As a Resource RN, you will care for a mixed population of patients across the UVM Medical Center. Our team is comprised of RNs and LNAs who float between different units to help cover inpatient staffing needs. You’ll work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide patients with the highest quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Care for a mixed population of patients across various units including Medical-Surgical, Cardiology/Telemetry, Critical Care, Maternal Child, Medicine, Surgical, Hematology/Oncology, Orthopedics, Acute Rehab, Psychiatry, Medicine/Surgical/Telemetry, Cardiothoracic, and Cardiac.
  • Support patients on a variety of inpatient units, including medicine, surgical, hematology/oncology, orthopedics, acute rehab, and psychiatry units.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
  • Participate in training and support provided by the leadership team to ensure you have the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in this role.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required.
  • ADN required, BSN preferred.
  • Appropriate experience in specific clinical areas varies by unit.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of direct experience is required.
  • A can-do attitude, flexibility, a love of change, independence, and excellent communication skills are needed to be successful in our department.

Skills

  • Broad range of skills and depth of experience.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of inpatient units.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Pay

  • $7.00/hour Resource Department differential.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts (7:00pm-7:30am).
  • No on-call requirement.

External Candidates

  • Eligible for a one-time signing bonus of $20,000 (prorated for part-time roles).
  • Current UVM Health Network employees are excluded from eligibility for this bonus.
